Volunteer

My wife, Lynn Lancour, spent endless time and resources organizing a bicycle trip from San Diego to St. Augustine, approximately 3,000 miles, to raise funds and awareness for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS).

The trip took a total of 52 days to complete, but it took Lynn six months to plan everything out. It started on April 6, 2021, in San Diego with three riders and two SWAG (supplies, water, and gear) team members, myself included. I am a current Multiple Myeloma patient (MM). Lynn raised over $60,000 for LLS and really didn’t get the credit that I think she deserved!

Our team was called “Gearsngrind for a Cause” and had a donation page and website that many, many people tuned in to each morning to hear the team’s progress and to whom that day was dedicated. It was very humbling, yet stimulating and gave us all new insights. I think someone should have called upon Lynn and published her story or written an article in this regard. She was relentless in her pursuit of trying to get to $50,000 and ended up with over $60,000 in contributions. We spent well over $6,000 of our own funds, pulled a trailer with our logo, took two months, and lots of pictures.
