Leukemia Survivor Travels From Egypt to Receive Treatment

At just three years old, Bishoy’s parents uprooted him and his family from Egypt to America after he was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. He underwent treatment for most of his childhood until finally receiving a clean bill of health at thirteen years old.

Over the years, Bishoy faced seemingly insurmountable setbacks and impossible odds — from his childhood bout with acute lymphoblastic leukemia to assimilation as a young immigrant up against obstacles physically and socially.

Bishoy completed his M.B.A. with dual concentrations in finance and management from Fordham University. His career has spanned across notable companies such as JP Morgan and Salesforce. In 2019, he even published his own memoir.

Bishoy never spoke about his childhood experience until 2017, when he decided to run the New York City Marathon, where he became the leading fundraiser for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) that year. He has continued to compete in marathons and triathlons across the country.

In total, Bishoy has raised nearly $100,000 for LLS, and continues to give back by participating in various fundraising campaigns through LLS and helping others overcome obstacles both personally and professionally.
