"You have cancer" is one of the scariest things you might ever hear. When Kate was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL), she initially thought about how she wasn't strong enough and how she wasn't ready to die. Then she calmed down and told herself she didn't really have a choice.
"You have to do this; you have to be strong."
Meet Matt. Hodgkin Lymphoma Survivor. Goalkeeper of major league soccer's Columbus Crew. After donating blood when he was 17 years old, Matt learned he had Stage 4 Hodgkin lymphoma. While all of his friends were going off to college, Matt was going to chemotherapy. But thankfully, by September, 2007 Matt was cancer free. Today, Matt is doing all he can to help others with blood cancer.
Matthew was diagnosed with Burkitt's Lymphoma and Leukemia in November 2008 at just two years old. After long and difficult chemotherapy treatments, Matthew achieved remission. He is now part of The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia survivorship program. Matthew finds time for his hobbies like making crafts and running make-believe restaurants and stores.
