mantle cell lymphoma (MCL)

This may be the most vulnerable thing I’ve ever shared. I tend to not like to share too much of my personal life on social media. I am a businesswoman, so a few pictures of my kids, family, or vacations are usually the extent of what I put out there. But if what I’m about to say here about my story helps even one person listen to their gut or body, then I am proud to have helped.

primary lymphoma of the bone (PLB)

In April 2023, I went to the doctor for an MRI for what I thought was a torn meniscus in my left knee. Unfortunately, that MRI showed that there was a growth on my left femur. After two full months of testing, surgery, and some more testing, I was officially diagnosed with primary lymphoma of the bone (PLB).

T-cell B-cell lymphoma

At the age of 56, I was diagnosed with T-cell B-cell lymphoma. The diagnosis was made in May 2021. Although diagnosed at the Washington D.C. Veterans Hospital, I was referred to the National Institute of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland. I was blessed to be placed in a clinical trial as the first patient with this form of lymphoma.

primary mediastinal large B-cell lymphoma (PMBCL)

I want to share my blood cancer journey. It all started back in October 2019 when I was at Gonzaga University. I started to experience the symptoms that I’m sure we’re all far too familiar with ― stomach pain, digestive problems, nausea, chest pain, and fatigue, all of which I was dealing with in addition to 20+ hours a week of tennis practice and a 15-credit class load.

stage 3 mediastinal B-cell lymphoma (PMBCL)

I walked into urgent care with a cough, they took an X-ray and discovered a mass in my chest that was 18x14x13 cm. I was hospitalized that same day and then was officially diagnosed with stage 3 mediastinal B-cell lymphoma (PMBCL). This occurred in 2018 just days after my 23rd birthday and only seven months after I moved to New York City.

stage 4 diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL)

After initial chemo and radiation for stage 4 diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), I went into remission for 10 months. I had more chemo but couldn't tolerate it. CAR T-cell therapy seemed to be my best option. I received Yescarta® in March 2022. I was in the hospital for three weeks. I had some side effects, but they were treated immediately and resolved.

T-cell lymphoma (TCL)

In 2019, I was diagnosed with T-cell lymphoma (TCL). In 2021, I had a stem cell transplant. As of November 23, 2023, I am cancer-free.

stage 2 non-Hodgkin follicular lymphoma (FL)

My journey began in early 2021 when I discovered some swelling in my left inguinal area. At the time, I did not think much of it but still was told by my primary to see a surgeon, which I did. I saw a surgeon who told me it was a swollen lymph node and that it would go away within a few months. After about six months, I still had the swelling, and it had started to bother me.

Anthonise has triumphed over adversity, facing her fourth diagnosis of marginal zone B-cell lymphoma (MZL). The first three times were stage 3 and now stage 4.

diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL)

My concerns began to rise when I noticed some spotting/bleeding between cycles that would last for 10 minutes or less. Additionally, I also started to experience slight abdominal cramps first thing in the morning.
