The Childhood Cancer Survivorship, Treatment, Access, and Research (STAR) Act (P.L. 115-180) is the most comprehensive childhood cancer bill taken up by Congress. This legislation, which was unanimously passed by Congress, was signed into law on June 5, 2018.
The bill aims to:
- Boost pediatric cancer research efforts
- Unlock new insights into childhood cancer through enhanced tracking and reporting
- Improve the quality of life for childhood cancer survivors.
Now that the Childhood Cancer STAR Act is law, LLS is working with Congress, the Administration and community stakeholders to ensure that the programs established in this legislation are robustly funded so they can be implemented to their fullest potential.
