The James L. Eichberg Lifetime Achievement Award was established in memory of Jim Eichberg, a long-time volunteer and supporter of LLS who made service to others an integral part of his daily life. The award recognizes the outstanding accomplishments of an individual who has demonstrated significant dedication and commitment to community and the mission of LLS, thereby making a significant impact on the lives of patients and their families.
We are honored to announce Ed & Donna Offterdinger as the recipients of the 2017 James L. Eichberg Lifetime Achievement Award. In addition to their work with LLS, the Offterdingers have been actively involved with many charities across the Metropolitan Washington area. Ed, Executive Managing Partner of Baker Tilly, started his career at Arthur Andersen which instilled in him the importance of business leaders giving back to their communities. Donna’s generosity of spirit was sparked by her family, who opened their home to many foster children and was active with Catholic Charities, S.O.M.E. and House of Ruth.
With that mindset, the Offterdingers have been involved with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society for over 20 years. Ed served as the Leukemia Ball Co-Chair four times and Donna served on the Auction Committee. Over the years they have supported many organizations, including Don Bosco Cristo Rey High School, Junior Achievement, Potomac Community Resources, Inc., and the Treatment and Learning Center. Ed and Donna are both from Bethesda, Maryland. Born and raised near each other, they met in high school and have been married over 35 years. Together with their adult children, Bobby and Cara, the Offterdingers are proud to help support this great organization. No cause is more important to them than eradicating blood cancers.
