Honored Hero

North Texas Honored Hero Program

Are you interested in becoming an Honored Hero for the North Texas Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS)?

What is an Honored Hero?

Honored Heroes are patients who are currently undergoing treatment, or who are in remission from a blood cancer such as leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease or myeloma.  They are anyone, at any age, who has been diagnosed with a blood cancer.  Our Honored Heroes are the reason The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is in existence today.

What is the Honored Hero Program?

Many LLS volunteers and participants do not know someone with a blood cancer.  Honored Heroes bring a face and name to cancers that people do know about.  By sharing your experiences, you will help motivate these volunteers to do all they can do to win the fight against blood cancers.

One of the most common ways LLS utilizes our Honored Heroes is by placing your name, diagnosis, photo, and personal story in LLS literature such as brochures, fliers, direct mail campaigns, newspaper ads, email campaigns and other materials.

How Can I be a Great Honored Hero?

The basic duty of the Honored Hero is the support the LLS mission.  Occasionally, LLS may call upon you to help in one or more of the following ways:

  • Share your story at an LLS campaign kick-off
  • Attend an LLS event
  • Share your story and photo via the North Texas social media pages
  • Be an ambassador by spreading awareness about LLS and its mission
  • Participate in North Texas Chapter events

LEARN MORE about the Honored Hero program and the different campaigns you can get involved with either through the application or by contacting Bethany Van Meter at the North Texas Chapter.  bethany.vanmeter@lls.org or (972) 996-5931.

We encourage you to apply today!
