This new series of 6 sessions is moderated by Anne Katz, PhD, RN, FAAN and an incredible group of expert guests.

  • Session 1: Why AYAs Are Unique – September 14, 2022  8:00-9:30pm ET
  • Session 2: Sexuality and Contraception for AYAs – September 27, 2022  8:00-9:30pm ET
  • Session 3: Fertility Preservation for AYAs – October 12, 2022  8:00-9:30pm ET
  • Session 4: AYA Survivorship Care and Survivorship Care Plans (SCPs) – October 25, 2022  8:00-9:30pm ET
  • Session 5: The Emotional Impact of Cancer on AYAs – November 9, 2022  8:00-9:30pm ET
  • Session 6: Resources for AYAs With Cancer – November 22, 2022  8:00-9:30pm ET

For each session you attend, 1.5 credits will be provided, for a total of 9 possible credits.  Attendance at all six sessions is not required to obtain CE credits.

Description

Learn why experiencing cancer as an adolescent and young adult (AYA) is so unique from any other ages and how you can best meet the needs of this special population.  Each session will touch on a different topic related to AYA cancer survivorship, including sexuality, fertility, emotional health, and resources specific to AYAs. 

 

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this 6-session series, attendees will be able to:

  • Describe the unique challenges that AYAs with cancer experience
  • Identify key roles that social workers and nurses can play in providing support for AYAs with cancer
  • Describe interventions that social workers and nurses can provide to this population from diagnosis to survivorship/end of life
  • Describe and provide age-appropriate care to young adults with cancer

Continuing Education Information

For each session you attend, 1.5 credits will be provided, for a total of 9 possible credits.  Attendance at all six sessions is not required to obtain CE credits.  

Registered Nursing Designation 

Approval for nurses has been obtained by the National Office of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society under Provider Number CEP 5832 to award 1.5 continuing education contact hours through the California Board of Registered Nursing.

Social Work Credit Designation

Approval for social workers has been obtained by the National Association of Social Work to award 1.5 continuing education contact hours. Individual session approval numbers listed below:

There are no fees for participating in or receiving credit for this CE activity. In order to receive credit, learners must participate in the entire CE activity, complete the post-test and activity evaluation form and your certificate of credit will be generated.
