Ways To Help

The Word:

More Events

There are many more fun and exciting ways you can participate in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) fundraising, including the following programs and events.

Top Campaign Fundraiser Recognition Program

Individuals who raise $50,000 and teams, schools and organizations that raise $100,000 can have an LLS-funded researcher named in honor of their extraordinary efforts. (Funds are not restricted to the named researcher.)

To be eligible, you must raise funds for any of the events below over a time period of:

  • one season for Team In Training
  • one campaign for Man & Woman of the Year, School & Youth Programs or The Leukemia Cup Regatta
  • one walk season for Light The Night

In addition to a researcher being named, top fundraisers receive:

  • a mention in LLS's annual report
  • customized plaques acknowledging their contribution - one for the individual fundraiser or team and another for the researcher

To learn more about the Top Campaign Fundraiser Recognition Program, contact Nancy Lawler, National Manager, Donor Services, at (914) 821-8825.

Neighborhood Drive Campaign

Play a critical role for LLS in your very own neighborhood by signing up today to be an annual Neighborhood Drive campaign volunteer.

All you need to do is send your neighbors and friends a preprinted letter requesting that a donation to LLS be sent back to you. When you collect the donations, simply forward your collections to LLS in the self-addressed envelope that's provided in your campaign kit. It's that easy!

With a little bit of effort, and a few stamps, you can make a big difference! Join the group of more than 1 million volunteers and donors annually who make an impact on research, education and patient services.

To get your Neighborhood Drive kit, call us at (800) 462-7831.

Golf Events

A variety of golf events are held throughout the year to benefit LLS. Whether you're a scratch golfer or hacker, you can help swing for the cures!

From celebrity tournaments to corporate and community outings, golf tournaments provide a fun way to entertain clients while helping to raise funds and awareness for the fight against leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma.

For more information about any of LLS's golf tournaments, contact Marty Siederer, Senior Director, Campaign Development, at (914) 821-8954. You can also enter your Zip code in the Find Your Chapter box at the top of this page to learn about the golf events in your community.

USA BMX Race For Life

For 33 years, USA BMX (formerly the American Bicycle Association) has held Race For Life events throughout the country to raise more than $3.6 million for LLS.

BMX riders and tracks began the race in 1981 in memory of Todd Kingsbury, a young bicycle motocross rider from Michigan who lost his fight against leukemia. Since then, USA BMX has continued to support LLS in our mission to find cures for blood cancers.

For more information, visit the USA BMX website or contact Marty Siederer, Senior Director, Campaign Development, at (914) 821-8954.

Media Events

LLS partners with radio and television stations throughout the country to develop and support media events that provide awareness for our goal to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma.

Our partner stations provide an invaluable community service for their audiences and are recognized as leaders in supporting charitable causes.

To find out how your station can join the family of stations and media outlets supporting LLS, contact Pamela Edelstein, National Director, Media Fundraising Events, at (914) 821-8848.

UFCW Support

Each year, the officers and members of the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union (UFCW) renew their commitment to funding vital LLS research.

UFCW members have walked, golfed, canoed, raffled, run and more - making the union one of LLS's top contributors.

Through their creative fundraising efforts for more than 25 years, the UFCW has raised more than $34 million, with over $3.3 million raised in 2010 alone. In 2004, LLS recognized the UFCW with a Lifetime Achievement Award for its years of commitment and contributions to LLS's mission.

UFCW's funding of critical research at leading universities throughout the United States and Canada helps us move closer to finding a cure.

To find out how your UFCW Local can get involved, contact David Timko, Senior Vice President, Volunteer Engagement at (910) 553-4004.
