acute lymphoblastic leukemia survivor
in remission since: 2011
When Jacob was diagnosed with ALL he underwent treatment that almost took his life. Now one year later, seven-year old Jacob is on maintenance therapy and maintaining remission.
We live in Santa Clarita, 30 miles north of Los Angeles Jacob had been very sick from delayed intensification, a very tough period of treatment where he received the most chemo. He developed a problem called Veno Obstructive Disease which nearly took his life. It was very rare for anyone to survive the disease, but Jacob did. David's sister gifted us with a trip to Hawaii 8 months later. I took this photo in Hawaii after David, his dad, taught him how to surf. David hung on to the back of the board with his legs in the water with Jacob lying down. David kicked to catch the wave and Jacob stood up. Father/son moment at its best!hide full story
