Excerpt

It's true that hearing the words "You have cancer" may make it feel like your whole life has changed in an instant. At first, dealing with cancer may seem scarier than anything you have ever had to face. You may wish for your "old life," the days before you learned you had cancer.

A number of people with cancer say that they wish they had received more information right from the start. They found that taking an active role in choosing a healthcare provider and making other treatment decisions could have a positive effect on their health and quality of life.
