This publication provides detailed information about Hodgkin lymphoma for patients, their families and caregivers. Brief descriptions of normal blood and marrow and the lymphatic system are provided for background. The publication also contains information about important considerations before and after treatment to help provide greater quality of life for survivors.
There are two main HL subtypes: classical Hodgkin lymphoma and nodular lymphocyte-predominant Hodgkin lymphoma (see Table 1 on page 11). About 95 percent of HL patients have the classical subtype. Knowing the patient's subtype is important for making treatment decisions.
