Today CML drug therapy response is being measured against an individual patient's results at the start of therapy, called the patient's baseline test results. For example, as shown in the table above, when a patient has a very high white blood cell count at the beginning of therapy, a "complete hematologic response and some cytogenetic improvement" may occur later than "after 3 months of therapy."
