Congratulations to the 2008 Man & Woman of the Year candidates for another amazing year! To date, these ten special people have raised over $200,000, and money is still coming in!
Congratulations to the 2008 Man & Woman of the Year:
Brad Hayes and Michelle Kelly!
Hayes, a Special Education Teacher at Carver-Scott Education Cooperative, raised $56,248. He dedicated his campaign to his father, father-in-law, and two close friends, all who have had or are currently fighting leukemia or lymphoma. Kelly raised $26,177; she is Director of Installations and Acquisitions for Medco Health Solutions. Kelly was motivated to participate by a close colleague who had been touched by this disease.
Thank you to all ten of the 2008 candidates for committing their time and resources to this important cause. You are all winners in the fight against blood cancers!
Man & Woman of the Year, presented by Dedicated Logistics, is a unique fundraising campaign in which business and community leaders vie for the prestigious titles of Man & Woman of the Year. During the ten-week campaign, candidates raise funds in honor of The Boy & Girl of the Year. At the end of the campaign, the top fundraising man and woman are named the 2008 Man & Woman of the Year.

I accepted this nomination from my co-worker, Kelly Lagnese, who was the 2007 Woman of the Year. I know I have some big shoes to fill, but I feel that I'm up for the challenge! In the end, I just hope that my involvement will inspire others to get involved in one way or another. I want to raise awareness about blood diseases and raise money that will help contribute towards continued research to find cures."

My next big adventure - after The Man & Woman of the Year event, of course - will be South America the end of this year." Jason was nominated to run for Man of the Year by a childhood friend; he says that his goals are to raise awareness about blood diseases and funds for people in need. "I'm running in memory of a good friend, who was a doctor of mine, he died of lymphoma in March 2007. I also hope to inspire others of my generation to volunteer for good causes."

Although Larry has not been personally affected by blood diseases, it's his gratitude for his health and his children's and grandchildren's health that is driving his campaign: "I'm in this to raise as much money as possible - for our Boy & Girl of the Year, and for other children like them."
