Welcome to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Community

1. Explore The LLS Community -- Log on and familiarize yourself with the different topic areas and features, engage in discussions and start a blog. For assistance and news on Community features, visit the Getting Started discussion thread.
2. Participate and contribute. Once you are comfortable, introduce yourself and feel free to participate regularly in topics of interest. Author your own blog and share your blog site with your friends.
3. Stay on topic. Remember that you're interacting and developing content on a site hosted by The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, which is dedicated to fighting blood cancers. LLS launched this forum to encourage peer support and to facilitate interaction among our various contacts.
4. Be safe. Protect your privacy. Disclose only what you feel comfortable disclosing. The Community is open to the public. Anyone can read the postings. Except for personal profile pages, the information you post is searchable by search engines. So post only what you feel comfortable being seen. Don't post your phone number or address. Be careful of how much detail you provide about your family. Do not post your personal e-mail address unless you are prepared to get more e-mail spam, as spammers "harvest" e-mails off the Web.
5. Think before you post. If you read another's post and it causes you to react strongly, try reading it again from a different point of view. Pretend you are your best friend or a person on the street. Would they react as strongly as you did? In online communities, we can't see and hear the people who post messages. So we can't assume we fully understand what they're saying in their text-only messages.
6. Start smart when creating new discussion threads. Before you begin a new discussion, search to see if the site already has one on your desired topic. Use clear subject headings for new discussions.
7. Be yourself! These boards are great because of you!

1. LLS reserves the right to remove content if it's off-topic or inappropriate. Cross the line? The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society staff moderates the site. Moderators remove inappropriate posts. LLS reserves the right to restrict or delete an account if unauthorized material is posted. LLS also has the right to ban those who contact other users with inappropriate content.
2. By participating on the LLS Community, you agree to not post or contact any user with material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise volatile of any law. You also agree not to post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you. Please note that advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, and solicitations are inappropriate and will be removed.
3. DO NOT post or contact users with any of the following:

   • Fundraising requests.
   • Unsuitable or inflammatory photographs, materials or links to personal or professional Web sites with questionable content.

   • Requests for or offers of medical advice or services such as analysis of medical diagnostic test results, offer a medical diagnosis or specific treatment plan.
