  • MDS is most common in men aged 80 and older.
  • From 2005 to 2009, there were approximately 65,592 new cases of MDS throughout the United States, averaging 13,118 cases per year.
  • From 2005 to 2009, there were approximately 36,397 cases in males and 29,195 cases in females.
  • The overall incidence rate for MDS is 4.5 cases per 100,000 population.
