Photo of Rachel Payeur-NarineRachel Payeur-Narine's Story
"Even before her diagnosis with acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL), my daughter Rachel's mantra was, 'LOVE NEVER ENDS!!!' Philosophical for an 8-year-old, but she really meant it. It gained new meaning when we found out she had leukemia. During the hardest times, I could see no further than her face when she was in pain or asking why we let people hurt her. But then, what choice did we have? Absolutely none. Choice was taken away the minute they told us she had cancer.

Photo of RachelNow Rachel is finished with her treatment and we're looking forward to a time, five years from now, when Rachel will be pronounced "cured;" to a time when we can rejoice that love never ends. Thanks to research, Rachel's time fighting leukemia will finally be over.

In the meantime, we're doing what we can to achieve a future in which there won't be children battling leukemia because there won't be leukemia. Research can make that possible. That's why I'm asking for you to raise funds for cancer research through The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Make Cures Happen. Doing a marathon is a major achievement, and by going the extra mile with Make Cures Happen, you can also help save lives. Thank you."
