Looking for a way to combine your desire to make a difference in the lives of others while utilizing your sales and marketing background?
The Virginia Chapter seeks an energetic, goal oriented individual to join our School & Youth recruitment team. This vital, seasonal, part-time position is responsible for making outbound phone calls to schools in Virginia to secure their participation in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) School & Youth Programs: Pennies for Patients or Olive Garden's Pasta for Pennies. This position offers flexible school-friendly hours Monday - Friday. This is an hourly, 20 - 25 hours per week, temporary position beginning mid August and ending in December, with potential to be extended through March, based on performance.

Make a difference in the fight against blood cancers by recruiting Virginia schools to participate in service learning programs which offer school aged students the opportunity to learn about philanthropy, blood cancers, and the difference that spare change can make. Students collect spare change and organize fundraising events to benefit LLS.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with a high volume of schools to register them for the Pennies for Patients or Pasta for Pennies service projects, primarily through phone and email
  • Provides administrative, secretarial and clerical support for special events.
  • Maintains assigned office, program and event records, files and data bases.
  • Prepares event related correspondence and reports.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society mission and its' programs to address them.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Excellent Microsoft Office, word processing and database management skills
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in business English, spelling, punctuation and grammar.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
  • Knowledge of standard business machines and computers.
  • Professional maturity and judgment.
  • Clear, concise speaking voice
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent telephone skills
  • Fundraising and/or recruiting experience preferred
  • Reliable transportation required
  • Will be required to travel within the Chapter's designated area.
