Campaign Manager


How many people can answer the question, "What do you do for a living?" with the answer, "I help find cures for cancer." At LLS, employees take our mission seriously. Position Title: Team in Training Campaign Manager    
Position Location: Albany, NY
 
Basic Function:
The Upstate New York/Vermont chapter of LLS currently has an opening for a Campaign Manager of the Team in Training Campaign. Team in Training is the largest fundraising campaign for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. In the past 25 years, Team in Training has inspired more than 570,000 participants to raise over 1.3 billion dollars for blood cancer patients and research as they have trained to run/walk a marathon, cycle a century ride or complete a triathlon.

Work Direction: Works under the supervision, direction and training of the Executive director and Regional Campaign Director to accomplish assigned duties and responsibilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Act as the main point of contact for participants as they fundraise and train for an endurance event (marathon, cycle and triathlon).
  • Responsible for achieving/exceeding $400K+ budget
  • Provide one-on-one fundraising guidance to each participant to ensure that each participant has the needed tools for success. Support is provided via in personal goal planning sessions, over the phone and through email.
  • Attend weekly training sessions and provide mission related updates in an effort to inspire participants and grow relationships.
  • Assist the Executive Director in the development of a comprehensive operational plan for the program.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key organizations/individuals within the community to grow the Team in Training presence. Also responsible for identifying new relationships and opportunities for program promotion and partnership.
  • Identify, develop, cultivate and manage volunteer relationships that will positively impact revenue generation and expense reduction.
  • Coordinate and maintain assigned campaign/team correspondence, financial records and statistical reports as needed.
  • Identify and coordinate promotional activities to ensure the success of events and to enhance public awareness of LLS and its mission.
  • Assist, as assigned, in the development and implementation of other chapter activities.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Position Requirements and Experience:

  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft word processing and database programs
  • Minimum education - Bachelor's Degree (Non-Profit Mgmt, Business, Communications, Marketing preferred)
  • Must be able to lift 40lbs.
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends on a regular basis (at least 2 weekends per month). Weekend travel on occasion

Critical for Success:

  • Proven professional fundraising experience (2-4 years).
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills.
  • Experience motivating volunteers and building volunteer teams
  • Highly organized and professional demeanor
