Campaign Assistant, Temporary

Position Title: Campaign Assistant, Light The Night Walks
Position Classification: Temporary 
Basic Function: Performs specific tactics designed to increase revenue through prospect recruitment and retention
Work Direction: Works under the direct supervision and training of the Light The Night Manager
Start: July 7th
End: October 13th
Hours: Temporary, Part-time, July 7th - October 13th, Monday - Friday, 9 am -1 pm; 4 hrs/day, 20 hrs/week
Location:  Based in Albany NY office with travel throughout the Chapter territory


  • Assist with planning and execution of the Light The Night Kickoff events
  • Recruit and manage assigned Light The Night teams and walkers by maintaining communication with team captains and assisting with fundraising and recruitment
  • Recruit  past Light The Night teams, community, and school groups
  • Develop ideas for prospective new teams and participants and, under the supervision of the Manager, implement recruitment plans
  • Plan and execute team kickoffs as needed - requires strong public speaking skills
  • Maintain working knowledge of LLS's mission and goals and be comfortable presenting this information to teams and participants on behalf of LLS
  • Maintain working knowledge of Light The Night Walk events and fundraising tactics and be comfortable presenting this information to teams and participants
  • Weekly distribution of participant materials and other administrative tasks as assigned
  • Assist with grassroots recruitment when needed
  • Assist with National Retail Partners and visits when needed
  • Assist Light The Night Manager with packing and other Walk logistics as needed
  • Assist with volunteer trainings and Bank Nights as needed
  • Enter all Walk donations and send thank you letters and emails when needed
  • Assist with post-Walk mailings and wrap-up activities
  • Maintain online database, donor information, and mailing lists
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Position Requirements:

  • Clear, concise speaking voice
  • Ability to collect and organize data effectively
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    Excellent telephone skills
  • Excellent Microsoft Office, word processing and database management skills
  • Proficient in business English, spelling, punctuation, and grammar
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized
  • Knowledge of standard business machines and computers
  • Professional maturity and judgment
  • Occasional night and weekend hours required - must be available to work Light The Night Kickoff events, Team Captain meetings, and Walks
  • Reliable transportation required
  • Fundraising and/or recruiting experience preferred
