Title:  School Recruitment & Outreach Assistant - Temporary
Status:  Non-Exempt 
Department: Campaign & Field
Summary:  Recruits and supports schools participating in the School & Youth Programs.

Work Direction: Works under the direct supervision and training of School & Youth Campaign Manager
  Start: October
  End: TBD

Hours: Temporary, Part-time, 20-24 hours/week
Location: 5433 Westheimer Rd., Suite 300, Houston, TX 77056

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Communicates with a high volume of schools to register them for the Pennies for Patients service learning project, primarily through phone and email
  • Provides administrative and clerical support for campaign operations
  • Provides support for school coordinators (necessary training will be provided
  • Maintains assigned workspace, program and event records, files, and databases
  • Prepares event related correspondence and reports
  • Maintains a working knowledge of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's mission and its programs
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Position Requirements: 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent telephone skills and a clear, concise speaking voice
  • Proficient in business English, with strong foundations in spelling, punctuation, and grammar 
  • Excellent Microsoft Office word processing and database management skills (Word and Excel)
  • Knowledge of standard business machines and computers
  • Professional maturity and judgment
  • Fundraising and/or recruiting experience preferred
  • Reliable transportation required

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • Work environment is a typical office setting
  • Physical demands are minimal and typical of similar jobs in an office setting
  • Will occasionally be required to lift and move Campaign materials weighing up to 15 pounds
  • May be required to travel within the Chapter's designated area
  • May be requested to work evenings or weekends
