Knoxville-Family Support Group

The Family Support Group for patients, family members and friends in the Knoxville area who are coping with leukemia, myeloma, Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphoma and myelodysplastic syndromes, is held on the second Thursday of every month at 6 PM in the Cancer Support Community, 2230 Sutherland Avenue in Knoxville.  Debra Sullivan, PhD facilitates the group and it meets free of charge to attendees.  For additional information, call (865) 546-4661.

Family Support Groups are based on the idea that communication is important throughout the cancer journey.  With professional guidance, patients, family members and friends can discuss their anxieties and concerns with others who share their experience.  This sharing strengthens the family bond and enhances everyone's ability to cope with cancer.

For additional information on financial assistance, free public and professional education materials, support groups, First Connection program (peer support), resource guide, national information resource center, online chat rooms and blogs, and/or be added to our mailing list, contact Barbara Burk at barbara.burk@lls.org, 615.331.2980 or 800.332.2980, extension 1741.  We are here to help.
