Michelle Galvanek tells us she?s no stranger to Leukemia: she lost one of her close friends to the disease, and her husband is a 12-year Leukemia survivor. Motivated by her personal connection to the disease, Michelle has made Team In Training (TNT) a major part of her life. She?s here (left) at the San Diego Rock?N?Roll Marathon, where she raised $38,000 in 2009. She says, "The event is very uplifting?lots of participants from across the country, people who don?t know you, will be screaming ?go team.?" In the National Capital Area chapter, Team in Training has three or four events each season, such as marathon, half marathon, triathlon, or century ride (this is last year?s Marine Corp. Marathon TNT team). Since the ultimate goal is to fund research to cure cancer and the money goes directly to helping find a cure, you know you?re going out to run for a greater purpose than crossing the finish line. Right now, TNT is training for the summer season: Get in shape and save a life. Interested? Potential recruits find info here <http://www.teamintraining.org/> .
