The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Orange County/Inland Empire Chapter is seeking an unpaid intern to provide support for the Team In Training campaign. The intern will support and assist with research, marketing and growth initiatives as related to the Team In Training Corporate Development program.  Team In Training is the world's largest and most successful endurance sports charity training program.  While training for an endurance event such as a marathon (full/half), triathlon, cycle event or hike, participants fundraise for the LLS mission to cure blood cancer. 

Intern will work under the direct supervision and training of the Corporate Teams Campaign Manager.

Position Requirements:

  • An interest in non-profit management, fundraising/development, event planning/logistics, and/or marketing/public relations
  • Creative self starter who can manage multiple tasks
  • Strong written and excellent verbal communication skills
  • Detail-orientated and highly organized
  • Ability to adapt to new assignments and strict deadline
  • Strong proficiency and understanding of MS Office and ability to work with social media
  • Must have reliable transportation to Chapter office in Orange, CA

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support marketing efforts with outreach, social media and research
  • Monitor and assist with corporate tracking updates in database
  • Research local companies and create localized and national corporate contact lists
  • Research potential sponsors and partners
  • Maintain and update recruitment materials and fundraising tools
  • Establish relationships with local Greek Life organizations
  • Conduct and compile benchmarking research of corporate health and wellness initiatives and philanthropy
  • Assist with calling and scheduling on-site information meetings
  • Assist with securing venues for events
  • Participate in brainstorming and update meetings
  • Provide administrative support for the campaign

Hours:  The applicant needs to provide a set weekly schedule between 9:00am - 5:00pm, Monday - Friday and be present on days scheduled to work. Some nights and weekends may be required based on event schedule. A total number of 12-15 hours per week is preferred, but we will work with your school schedule and internship requirements from your University.

Location:  765 The City Drive South, Suite 260, Orange, CA 92868 plus off-site locations for events in Orange County and the Inland Empire.  

This is an unpaid internship that needs to be completed for school credit. If you do not need school credit please indicate it in your cover letter as other volunteer opportunities may still be available.  We will provide school credit and a letter of reference.
