The Word:

First Connection Program

When one is recently diagnosed with a blood cancer or dealing with treatment and/or diagnosis challenges, it helps to have friends and family to cope with.  Often times patients also benefit from speaking with someone who has been through a similar diagnosis. The Patti Robinson Kaufman First Connection Program enables patients and their loved ones to connect with a trained peer volunteer who is in a unique position to provide support and community resource information to others facing a similar diagnosis.

Both blood cancer patients as well as family members can request a First Connection-we are more than happy to help set that up for you! Please give Dannie Davis a call at (703)399-2956 if you are interested in learning more about the program, to set you up with a LLS First Connection peer volunteer, or if you would like to become a volunteer! If you need to leave a voicemail, please include the following information:

  • Name
  • Age
  • Diagnosis
  • Date of Diagnosis
  • Phone number
  • Email address

We look forward to hearing from you and giving you the support you need!
