Employer of the Year

Congratulations to Open Society Foundations for being the first ever recipient of the Employer of the Year Award!

Open Society Foundations Logo

Open Society Foundations works to build vibrant and tolerant societies whose governments are accountable and open to the participation of all people.

They were nominated because of their outstanding dedication to helping and improving the quality of life of a blood cancer patient. Just a few short months into his new position with Open Society Foundations, the patient and employee was diagnosed with Hodgkin?s Lymphoma. ?It was a shock. I started to worry about losing the job without ever really starting it. My partner, family and friends were all in Europe and I had almost no one to rely on for support.? But Open Society Foundations did everything possible and more to facilitate the employee's recovery. They provided work flexibility to undergo treatments, brought him home cooked meals and even helped his partner (who also works for Open Society Foundations) obtain a work visa to be able to work from Washington, D.C.

In recognition of their amazing support for an employee recently diagnosed with blood cancer and his family, Open Society Foundations received their award at a luncheon on March 13, 2013.  They also received recognition at LLS campaign events and tickets to an LLS sponsored event.

Congratulations also go to our two Honorable Mentions:                                   Booz Allen Hamilton and The White House Executive Clerk?s Office.
