Please join us for an informative conference on blood cancer survivorship. Patients, families, and healthcare professionals are welcome. Attendees will hear from survivorship experts, survivors, and caregivers. Our keynote speaker is Kenneth Miller, MD, from The Alvin & Lois Lapidus Cancer Institute at Sinai. The program is FREE, but pre-registeration is regquired. Complimentary parking, breakfast, lunch, snack, and program materials are included. There will also be interactive resource and research exhibits available.

Goal:  To educate the audience about key areas in blood cancer treatment and survivorship.

Objectives:  At the conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • List strategies to make informed decisions about treatment
  • Explain strategies to manage disease and treatment side effects
  • Explain the importance of having a survivorship care plan, including a treatment summary
  • Describe strategies for managing ongoing cancer survivorship issues including fatigue, chemo brain, financial and employment challenges
  • Identify resources available in local communities and how to access services at comprehensive cancer centers
  • Access services and programs available through LLS chapters and the national programs
  • Explain the survivorship needs for caregivers, young adults, children/teens and older adults.
  • Describe the role of integrative therapies in survivorship

Target Audience:  Blood cancer survivors, families, and oncology nurses and social workers.

Continuing Education Information:  Approval for nurses has been obtained by the National Office of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society under provider number CEP 5832 to award 5.75 continuing education contact hours through the California Board of Registered Nursing. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), provider number 1105, is approved as a provider for social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education Program (ACE). Approval Period: 12/2011-12/2014. LLS maintains responsibility for the program. Social workers should contact their regulatory board to determine course approval. Social workers will receive  5.75 CE clinical clock hours.
