Job Title: Pennies for Patients Recruitment & Outreach Assistant, (part-time / temporary)

Specific Information:

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society seeks an energetic, articulate and hard working individual to generate excitement and involvement in our 2014-2015 Pennies for Patients fundraising campaign. This vital team member is responsible for contacting Maryland schools to secure their participation in our annual Pennies for Patients program. Responsibilities include recruiting and retaining schools, building relationships, taking detailed notes, maintaining records, and other tasks as assigned. Applicants must be comfortable on the phone, familiar with Microsoft Excel and willing to learn the department database.
This position is 20 hours/week, offers school-friendly hours Monday - Friday, starts on August 20 and ends on or before December 22, 2014.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Communicate with a high volume of schools primarily through phone and email
  • Provides administrative, secretarial and clerical support for special events.
  • Maintains assigned office, program and event records, files and data bases.
  • Prepares event related correspondence and reports.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society mission and it's programs to address them.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • Excellent word processing and database management skills.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in business English, spelling, punctuation and grammar.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
  • Knowledge of standard business machines and computers.
  • Professional maturity and judgment.
  • Clear, concise speaking voice
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent telephone skills Excellent Microsoft Office, word processing and database management skills
  • Proficient in business English, spelling, punctuation, and grammar
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized
  • Fundraising and/or recruiting experience preferred
  • Reliable transportation required

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • Physical demands are minimal and typical of similar jobs in comparable organizations
  • Work environment is representative and typical of similar jobs in comparable organizations
  • May be required to move Campaign materials weighing up to 15 pounds for various events.
