Position Title:
Temporary Campaign Assistant - Long Island Chapter. Hauppauge, NY

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Long Island Chapter is seeking a candidate to assist with key administrative activities associated with its Man & Woman of the Year Campaign. The selected candidate will gain valuable experience in the areas of: business and non-profit operations; development and fundraising; marketing & PR; and community relations.

Basic Function:
Performs logistical projects and activities for the Man & Woman of the Year department to support the staff and enhance income production.

Work Direction: Works under the direction, supervision and training of the MWOY Senior Manager, and Campaign Specialist.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative, secretarial, and clerical support for Man & Woman of the Year in regards to event planning and participant support.
  • Maintains assigned office, program and event records, files and data bases
  • Prepares campaign related materials, correspondence and reports.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society mission and its programs to address them.
  • Administers select on-going programs and/or special projects (e.g. sponsorship recruitment, corporate/foundation prospect identification and cultivation, prize distribution, event press releases, event logistics coordination, etc.)
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and database management skills
  • Tech savvy, i.e. eMarketing, Social Media, website management
  • Extremely detail-oriented and highly organized
  • Strong interpersonal skills and judgment
  • Professional demeanor
  • Two or more years of administrative work

A college degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or Management strongly preferred. This temporary position is available working primarily Monday-Friday, 35 hours per week. Some evenings and weekends, and local travel are required.
