Position Title: Human Resources Manager - Pacific West
Location:  1 position in either the California Southland Chapter - Los Angeles or the Greater Bay Area Chapter - San Francisco
Reports to: VP, Employee Life - Human Resources
Department:  Human Resources Pacific West United States
 
Responsible for performing senior-level generalist functions, providing guidance and support to management in the area of employee relations, and oversight of strategic human resources projects for the region  Will also provide guidance and support for the recruitment, selection and development of nonexempt and professional staff - with primary emphasis region positions. This position reports to national office and involves travel as needed to the region offices.

Major Position Responsibilities:

  • Manages the process of identifying and recruiting candidates for the region
  • Develops and employs creative methods of attracting talented prospective employees to the organization
  • Manages the process of identifying and recruiting candidates for local offices within the  region
  • Interviews and screens prospective employees and makes referrals to appropriate departments.  Extends offers of employment under the guidance of national office
  • Provides guidance and support to region vice president and executive director for the region, in the area of employee relations. 
  •  Evaluates decisions involving personnel (terminations, disciplinary actions, etc.) and recommends/approves actions that are in the best interest of the Society from both a legal and organizational perspective. 
  • Seeks guidance from home office on employee relations matters.
  • Management and oversight of key HR projects for the region as assigned.
  • HRIS direction and training for region
  • Heavy interaction with national management, chapter management and departmental staff.  Under the guidance of HR national evaluates, recommends and implements new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in department efficiency and services provided.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Knowledge of employment law. Working knowledge of California law is a must.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation and networking skills
  • Solid organizational skills.
  • Good computer skills.
  • ADP Enterprise a plus

Education:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a related area.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2-4 years of related experience
