School and Youth is a fundraising program within LLS.  Each year, millions of elementary and secondary school students come together to participate in Pennies for Patients, School & Youth?s primary program. Pennies for Patients is a 3-week spare change collection program which provides K-12 teachers new opportunities to implement service learning and character education into their curriculum. Position Title:   Campaign Specialist, School & Youth
Location: Greater Bay Area Chapter - San Jose, CA

Basic Function:
Assists in the creation, management and implementation all fundraising activities for the LLS School & Youth Programs.  Works under the supervision, direction, and training of S&Y Campaign Manager to accomplish assigned duties and responsibilities and meet or exceed revenue goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and maintain S&Y campaign correspondence, financial records and statistical reports and facilitate campaign records, evaluations and reports.
  • Assist in hiring, training, and supervision of S&Y temporary staff positions.
  • Prepare and coordinate S&Y campaign correspondence (via phone, web, print, and fax) to cultivate and retain working partnerships with teachers and school administrators.
  •  Campaign correspondence to include:
    Direct Mail
    Honored Hero/Patient bios and posters
    Parent and School communication and fundraising guides
  • Actively participate in school recruitment and communication calls, hitting set goals for number of schools recruited
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with top fundraising schools to encourage annual participation and increase fundraising averages 
  •  Cultivate and recruit Honored Heroes for each school year. Develop and implement ideas to incorporate the mission into School & Youth Programs
  • With support staff, work to secure and conduct school visits (e.g. educational assemblies, student leadership meetings) within the Greater Bay Area
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the LLS mission and its programs to address them


  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Ability to deliver effective presentations to (K-12th grade) students and school educators
  • Willingness to travel to all areas throughout Greater Bay Area
  • Must have valid driver?s license and own car
  • Capable of balancing multiple priorities effectively
  • High degree of organization and attention to detail
  • Ability to develop and leverage new and existing relationships
  • Strong word processing and database management skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Two or more years of professional experience (fundraising, sales and/or customer service experience preferred)
  • Bachelors degree required
  • Must be willing to work some nights and weekends
