Nurses and Social Workers

Goal
The purpose of the Central PA Blood Cancer Conference is to educate patients, caregivers, nurses and social workers on the current and emerging treatments of blood cancers and improve the overall quality of life for blood cancer patients, survivors and their families.

Target Audience
The content of this program will provide an ideal learning environment for cancer patients, survivors, family members and healthcare professionals.

Continuing Education
Approval for nurses has been obtained by The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's national office under provider number CEP 5832 to award 6 continuing education contact hours through the California Board of Registered Nurses; for social workers under provider number 1105 to award 6 contact hours through the Association of Social Work Boards. Approval Period: 12/2011 - 12/2014.  LLS maintains responsibility for the program.  Social workers whould contact their regulatory board to determine course approval. Partial Credit WILL NOT be offered.

Objectives

• Understand the latest research developments, treatment advances and clinical practices for adult blood cancers.
• Become familiar with the psycho-social issues for patients and families coping with blood cancers.
• Identify, apply and explain the latest practices and applications regarding survivorship in working with patients/families with blood cancers.
• Identify reliable sources of blood cancer information for patients and families, to best navigate our current health care environment.
