Region Manager, Grantwriting

Position Title: Region Manager, Grant-writing
Position Classification: Exempt

Basic Function: The Region Manager, Grant-writing will research and generate grant requests to community, family and individual foundations, local businesses and corporations.   Strong applicants are proactive, overseeing annual granting schedules and timelines, researching new funding opportunities, and preparing progress and final reports on grants received.   To successfully secure funds, this position requires a high attention to detail and accuracy in reflecting current program descriptions and statistics, financial and other data, with an enthusiasm for learning about all areas of LLS and our Mission.??

Work Direction: Works under the supervision of the National Director of Philanthropy, requiring management approval for activities outside the Annual Development Plan.  Works collaboratively with the Donor Development staff in the Pacific West Region Chapters and the national office.   

Critical Success Factors:

  • Achievement of agreed upon revenue target, through research and development of grant proposals.
  • Ability to provide successful grant reports through data gathering, evaluation and tracking. 
  • Implementation of an annual calendar to track both proposal and report timelines. 
  • Successful development of a work plan accordingly. 

Major Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a work plan for the region's agreed upon grant revenue.
  • Research, gain knowledge and develop grant proposals toward achievement of the revenue target.
  • Work with NDP, to vet and establish an increased number of prospects for grant proposals, maintaining a steady stream of funding potential. 
  • Serves as point of contact for grant funders and potential grant funders.  Cultivate relationships with key prospects within the region.
  • Compiles grant reports, meets with funder and develops all required compliance  information to maintain funding and increase potential for renewal. 
  • Works with campaign staff teams as appropriate in the development of large un-restricted (and non-campaign) related corporate grants. 
  • Establish a pipeline for new grant revenue opportunities.
  • Conduct regular meetings with key staff to strategize about revenue opportunities, cross-collaboration and communication about all grant funders and supporters.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of LLS's mission and its programs to address them.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor's Degree with 5 years previous experience.
  • Proven track record of success; prior experience in a grant writer position.
  • Applicants will be required to provide writing samples to demonstrate research and writing skills.   Excellent writing skills required.
  • Ability to organize and synthesize complex ideas into clear and persuasive prose is essential for this position.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from funders and the LLS leadership team.
  • Knowledge about philanthropic foundations is required.
