Position Title:  Deputy Executive Director
Immediate Supervisor: Executive Director
Chapter:   California Southland Chapter - One (1) position in either Greater Los Angeles or Orange County/Inland Empire Office
Position Classification: Exempt 

Basic Function:  Executive that provides Strategic Direction and Revenue Generation for the Chapter.  Senior level management responsibility/accountability for priority campaign development, special event campaigns and operations related to assigned revenue streams.  Fulfills the role of the Executive Director in her absence.

Work Direction: Works with minimal supervision and direction from the Executive Director to ensure that Chapter Strategic Plan, Revenue Goals and Outcomes are achieved.  A leader to the Executive and Senior Team, continuously mentoring talent resources, chapter-wide.

Critical Success Factors:

  • Recruiting, engaging and managing high level volunteers
  • Achieving revenue goal of over $5 million
  • Ability to oversee independent fundraising campaigns and special events.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • In conjunction with the Executive Director, accountable for revenue generation and successful implementation of Light The Night campaign, School & Youth campaign, and special event campaigns.
  • As a Chapter Leader, has a thorough understanding of the LLS Mission, chapter patient services' and research activities.  Supports chapter-wide mission integration.
  • In conjunction with Executive Director, continuously assesses the external and internal environment to shape the chapter's direction.  Takes an active part in developing all chapter strategic documents.
  • Provides strategic direction, leadership and management support to priority campaign teams and assigned Special Event Teams.
  • Serves as a Chapter Leader, mentoring the team, manages effectively down and across the organizational chart.  With a spirit of partnership with other department heads, assumes the responsibility of the Executive Director as needed in her absence. 
  • With campaign staff and office manager, tracks income and expenses associated with campaigns/events and facilitates comprehensive campaign records, evaluations and reports.
  • Represents the best interests, professionalism and integrity of the Chapter and LLS in all activities and relationships through a unified message of the LLS mission and a commitment to organizational standards.
  • Assists, as assigned, in the development and implementation of other chapter activities; performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to work independently, thrive under pressure, and simultaneously move multiple tasks forward at high level
  • Strong problem-solving, priority-setting, public speaking and decision-making skills
  • Ability to travel extensively within local territory and work flexible hours
